Kick‐Off Meeting of the SPS Project G5836 “Carbon-Based Batteries and Supercapacitors”

Webex (online) meeting

The kick-off meeting of the SUPERCAR project, funded by the NATO Science for Peace and Security program, was held on March 26th, 2021. The aim of the SUPERCAR project is to develop a new generation of Li-free batteries and supercapacitors, grounded on biomass-derived, low-cost, and eco-friendly carbon nanotechnology.

SYNTHESIS AND DESIGN OF ELECTRODE MATERIALS

New types of biomass-derived carbons for supercapacitors and batteries relying on Na and multivalent ions (Ca, Mg, or Al)

FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH:  EXPERIMENT & THEORY

The fundamental understanding of the carbon-ion interaction under operating conditions of batteries and supercapacitors: the role of Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+ electrolyte ions

APPLIED RESEARCH

Development of sodium and multivalent charge storage devices based on developed carbon materials
